Shutterfly, check it out!
My friend Michelle has been using Shutterfly to do invitations, and even just printing pictures in general, for several years. I decided to try it out awhile ago, and I have to say it's a pretty awesome website for storing & sharing your favorite photos, in addition to doing some pretty cool projects with the photos you upload. Anyway, I just started setting up our very own Shutterfly web page, in which I can store all of my favorite photos and give people the address to view them. You can even order prints of my pictures from this site, so it's actually pretty cool. Anyway, our Shutterfly website address is http://thehortonfamilypics.shutterfly.com if you're interested. I'm still working on uploading all my favorites. You can even check out the two photo books I recently made. Enjoy!

Through the eyes of a four year old...
Don't you wish that you could still look at life through the eyes of a four year old?? The other day we were at Target looking for a baby gift and Emma started whining because I wouldn't buy her a toy. After arguing with her in the Barbie aisle (which was my fault for even venturing to the toys), and trying to explain to her that money doesn't grow on trees, she boldly looked at me and said, "But Mommy, all we have to do is take it to the front and pay for it and I can take it home!" Oh, honey, if only life were that simple!
I watch in admiration as my princess comes walking out of her room wearing pretend makeup, some pretend dress shoes, jewelry, some adorable pink sunglasses, and a funny little headband with feathers on it. She looks at me and says, "Mommy, how do I look?" I of course gasp and say, "Dahling, you look mahvelous!" She giggles and goes about her pretend play. Why do I look at her in admiration?? Because she is such a confident young lady who hasn't been subjected to life! She doesn't care if her tummy sticks out a little too much or if her hair just isn't right. And if she's got $1 in her purse she's the richest girl alive!
Oh, how I wish that I could see life through the eyes of a four year old. But no matter how tough things can get, my life is really quite awesome. And if you ever catch me staring off into space with a silly grin on my face, I'm probably thinking of my little princess and how perfect her world is because she's got makeup, dress shoes, cool shades, and $1 in her pocket...what more does she need?

4 Years Old, Going on 14!
On February 24th we celebrated Emma's 4th birthday. We actually celebrated it on Valentine's Day because that's what worked best for everybody. It's hard to believe she's already 4! It seems like only yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital.
Emma had a Little Mermaid themed birthday party, which we had at Clive City Hall. It was a great day. The night before we had really cruddy weather, so we were wondering if we would have many party guests, but Saturday was beautiful! We decorated the hall with photos of ocean life hanging from the ceiling. The kids loved it! They played games, enjoyed TWO birthday cakes, and crowded around Emma as she opened up her gifts. I made one of the cakes. It was really fun to bake and decorate, but I'm not sure I'd make a profession out of it! It was worth it, because Emma loved it, and it was a really fun day!
Horton Hears a Who?
Well, thanks to my two best friends creating blogs just recently, I decided that it was, in fact, a great way to keep up with family and friends. Facebook is fun, but there's so much more you can do with blogging...that is if I can figure this thing out!!! Anyway, the title of our blog is "Horton Hears a Who?" It seems like every time I tell somebody our last name, their response is, "You mean like Horton Hears a Who?" so I thought it was very fitting for our family blog. So here we are! I'm not sure how often I'll post, but it might be kinda fun, even if only for random thoughts! So enjoy!
